Earlier this week, I received an email from Geocaching NSW to let me know that the geocache that I co-own in Macquarie University Library was nominated as their Geocache of the Month for February. Based on the logs that people have left in the logbook and online, it does seem to be a geocache that people like to find, so it was nice to receive this award in recognition of that. The high number of Favorite points that it has received also show its popularity.
Continuing the theme of favourites, Macquarie University Library has been nominated in ALIA’s Australia’s Favourite Library competition. We seem to be doing pretty well in the voting, but we are at an distinct advantage over some of the other libraries in the competition due to the large number of students and staff who are associated with the university (about 30,000) as well as over 100,000 alumni. I think it would be nice if we won, as it would reflect all the hard work that the library staff have put in since we moved into the new building nearly three years ago. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
