A musical morning

It was a bit of a musical morning at our house this morning. Blake learnt “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” at preschool this week, so I found a video of the song on YouTube:

I’d forgotten how high some of those notes are! We also found a version of some police officers (I think they were Israeli) miming to it:

We finished off the musical morning with a couple of songs from Steve’n’Seagulls, a Finnish hillbilly band who do covers of rock songs. I first saw them doing AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, and they’ve now also covered “You Shook Me All Night Long”, with the video featuring the Finnish national ice hockey team.

I now have an earworm of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” stuck in my head.

We have boxes!

As part of our preparation for moving house, we went and bought some boxes this morning. We only bought 10, so I’m sure we’ll be back for more down the track.

We have boxes (and tape, and a tape gun)!

We wanted to have some boxes handy to help with the de-cluttering that we’ll be doing to get the house ready to sell. Luckily my parents have said we can store some of our boxes at their place once we start packing.

One of the jobs on our to-do list was to sort through our videos/CDs/DVDs to see if there were any that we could get rid of. Most of them will be staying, and there’s a few videos that I need to try and find the DVD version of. We don’t have a VCR any more, so there’s no point keeping any videos. The videos are a blast from the past – five episodes of Star Wars.

I’ve got the re-released versions of the original trilogy on DVD, but it would be nice to have the original versions of Episodes IV-VI. I’ll be scouring eBay and Amazon to try and find them. I’m sure they’re out there somewhere – possibly in a galaxy far, far, away.
